New Features:
The EQ260, EQ130, EQ215 and the AFW-30 all
feature our new (Extended
Resolution) long-throw faders for maximum accuracy and control.
Designing
a New Fader:
When we went looking for a new long throw fader we didn't just pick one
off the shelf. We had very specific electronic and physical requirements
that couldn't be handled by just any fader.
-
It had to have the exact electrical taper to match
up with our Industry Standard 'Constant Q' circuitry,
and that could only be achieved by having a leading
potentiometer manufacturer custom make one for
us.
-
It had to have the right 'feel'. Many equalizers
have faders with so little physical resistance
that you feel you've just pushed your finger into
a hole! But the custom made ARX XR fader has just
the right amount of tactile response so you don't
unintentionally over EQ.
-
It had to have the maximum length and fader travel
that enabled two channels to fit into a 3 RU chassis,
to allow the smallest of EQ adjustments to be made
quickly and accurately.
-
And finally, we needed an integral dust shield
to keep unwanted airborne debris out of the fader
to prolong fader life in harsh environments.
To fulfill all these requirements we designed
our extended
resolution fader, manufactured exclusively for us, exactly
to our specifications
“…the instant response that only precision analogue circuitry delivers...”
Sweepable High Pass filter 20-200Hz:
Not every application needs the 20 to 20 KHz response of these new equalizers.
In some cases it is very useful to be able to roll off the low frequencies,
especially in applications such as voice systems, rooms with excessive
low end room gain, or for special effects. To allow for this, we've
incorporated a sweepable High Pass filter to roll off low frequencies,
user-variable from 20 Hz through to 200 Hz. A front panel switch lets
you switch between High Pass In and Out for instant comparison.
Laser Cut Steel Front Panel:
Physically, our new heavy-duty laser cut forged steel front panel provides
the strength and rigidity to survive where lesser EQs won't. For long
life it has been powder coated in satin Anotec silver.
ARX Constant Q Circuitry:
When something is just right, there's no need to change it. Thousands
of audio professionals have come to rely on the quality of ARX EQ circuitry,
and so we haven’t changed it's design principles at all. In fact
it’s become even quieter, thanks to upgraded integrated circuits,
an improved board layout and new power supply design.
Custom Toroidal Transformer:
For the power supply we use a custom wound precision toroidal transformer,
because they are the quietest available. We could just bolt it to the
chassis and hope for the best, but we know that you and your clients
are just as obsessive about audio quality as we are. Although the all-steel
chassis construction gives excellent RF and noise rejection, to make
doubly sure we encase the complete transformer in a separate steel
shell, to further reduce stray emissions. Overkill? Not when the whole
performance depends on it!
The Analog solution for a digital world™
The ARX EQ 260, EQ 130 and EQ 215 Graphic
Equalizers provide true 'state-of-the-art' audio control, with the instant
response that only precision analog circuity delivers. No processor lag
(latency), no menu scrolling, no nudge buttons, just superb audio quality
at your fingertips.
